On November 28th 2014, our data center in HK had experienced some service interuption between 11:15am and 12:00pm GMT+0. Total affected period was approx 45 minutes.

The cause of the interuption was found to be a server within the network engaging in what appeared to be a DOS attack. The size of the traffic was sufficient to strain one of the DC's core routers as there was an excessively large number of small UDP packets. This caused some packet loss throughout the affected period. The level of packet loss varied throughout.

Having determined the cause of the problem, a solution was implemented and network was operating under normal parameters again by 11:55 GMT.
